Visit of the President of European Council, António Costa, to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The President of the European Council, António Costa, visited Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday, 13 May 2025as part of his trip to the Western Balkans. 

This visit is aimed at reaffirming the European Union’s commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU path and stressing the importance of building further on the renewed momentum in the enlargement process.

President Costa visited the EUFOR Althea mission, where he met the Commander of EUFOR Althea Major General Florin-Marian Barbu and addressed the troops. 

Following the visit to the Camp Butmir, Costa met with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Chairwoman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Kristo. 

Following the meetings with BiH officials, President Costa also toured part of Sarajevo city centre and Baščaršija, together with Head of EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca.
