Agenda highlights

The EU-Chile Joint Council will hold its 1st meeting on 26 November in Brussels, following the start of provisional application of the EU-Chile Advanced Framework Agreement (AFA) on 1 June 2025.

The meeting will be co-chaired on the EU side by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, and on the Chilean side by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Alberto van Klaveren.

The parties will first discuss key aspects of the EU-Chile relations, including the state of implementation of the AFA and progress toward its full ratification.

They will then exchange views on global and regional issues, including on the main outcomes of the CELAC-EU summit, the outcomes of the COP30 in Belem, as well as transnational organised crime.

Lastly, the parties will touch on foreign policy issues, including on developments related to international peace and security, such as Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, and the crisis in Gaza.
