HORIZON EUROPE – WORK PROGRAMME 2025
What is Horizon Europe?
Horizon Europe is the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for the period 2021–2027. As the successor to Horizon 2020, it is the EU’s key funding programme for R&I, aimed at supporting research and innovation activities with the goal of generating scientific, technological, economic and societal impact from EU investments.
With a budget of €95.5 billion, Horizon Europe is the most ambitious EU Research and Innovation programme ever. It supports excellence in science, tackles global challenges, strengthens industrial competitiveness and fosters the EU’s strategic autonomy.
Horizon Europe is open to the world. Chilean institutions are eligible to participate in the majority of calls for proposals, provided they form part of a consortium including at least one entity from an EU Member State and two additional entities from two other EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.
2025 Work Programme
The European Commission has adopted the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2025, which sets out the funding opportunities for the year 2025. The calls included in this Work Programme will mobilise more than €7.3 billion to support research and innovation activities that will advance frontier science, drive the green and digital transitions, and enhance European competitiveness.
The submission period for over 500 calls is now open, and applications must be submitted through the European Commission’s Funding and Tenders Portal.
The 2025 Work Programme foresees 35% of the budget dedicated to climate action; 8.8% to biodiversity, and 36% to the digital transition, including €1.6 billion for Artificial Intelligence development.
