Funded traineeships for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Colombia

Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Colombia?

We offer:

Traineeships of up to 6 months in 2026 within the following sections of the EU Delegation. The tentative start dates are June 2026 and December 2026.

  • Two traineeships in the Political, Press and Information Section - Press and Information (PI):

Main tasks: 

  • Monitor local media and political developments, in particular those affecting EU-Colombia relations
  • Follow and contribute to reporting on political developments, economy, human rights, peace, security, environment and regional developments. 
  • Contribute to the social media strategy;
  • Contribute to the preparation of articles and interviews;
  • Participate and contribute to the preparation and implementation of public diplomacy activities of the EU Delegation;
  • Assist in the conception and implementation of information and communication products;
  • Participate in internal and external meetings/events and report timely about them;
  • Data gathering and analysis of social and economic indicators in the country;
  • Ad hoc tasks related to upcoming demands and events
  • Three traineeships in the Political, Press and Information Section - Human rights (HR):

Main tasks: 

  • Follow and contribute to reporting on political developments, economy, human rights, peace, security, environment and regional developments. 
  • Contribute as relevant to the preparation and follow-up to of meetings
  • Data gathering and analysis of social and economic indicators in the country;
  • Participate in internal and external meetings/events and prepare reports;
  • Assist the work of the Section as necessary, including with regard to outreach/visibility projects

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in the country of assignment will only be considered.
    • At least a Bachelor diploma (or equivalent) in international relations, politics, communication or equivalent.
    • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
    • Candidates cannot have more than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing date of the traineeship agreement, which usually takes place 1 month before the start date of the traineeship.
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Capacity to work in a team with attention to details
    • Good command of usual IT Tools

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. 

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. 

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;

  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
