EU and Indonesia Sign Cooperation to Establish EU Desk at Indonesia's Investment Ministry

EU and Indonesia Sign Statement of Cooperation to Establish EU Desk at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/ Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board
Jakarta, 13 June 2025 - The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Indonesia and the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/ Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) signed today a Statement of Cooperation to establish the EU Desk within the Ministry. This milestone marks a renewed commitment to support economic cooperation and investment flows between the EU and Indonesia.
The EU Desk is a new tool that will promote and support EU investments in Indonesia through services such as market intelligence, guidance on business setup and licensing, business-to-business matchmaking, the identification of new investment projects, as well as regulatory cooperation. Building on previous cooperation with BKPM to identify priority sectors with strong potential for new investments and matching EU and Indonesia policy priorities, the EU desk will focus on “future-oriented” sectors such as renewable energy, automotive, ICT and electronics, logistics, agribusiness and fisheries, among others.
“While the EU and Indonesia are progressing towards the conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), we are reinforcing our cooperation with BKPM to identify new investment opportunities and guide investors. The EU Desk is not just a facility – it is a symbol of our ambition to create impactful investments based on high-quality and sustainability principles, in line with our Global Gateway strategy for infrastructure investments. I am very glad to sign this Statement of Cooperation together with H.E. Minister Rosan Roeslani. This is a joint ambition,” said H.E. Denis Chaibi, EU Ambassador to Indonesia.
The EU Desk is supported by the EU through the EU-Indonesia Cooperation Facility (EUICF) and will have its office at BKPM premises. It will facilitate direct dialogue on investment-related policies between EU investors and regulators, offering assistance for business expansion and supporting project identification. The EU Desk will support liaison with EU Member State finance institutions and private investors to boost the mobilisation of public and private sector investments in Indonesia.
