EU Delegation co-hosts Seminar on Building Resilience Against Disinformation

On 26 February 2025, the EU Delegation to Indonesia co-organised the seminar “Building Resilience Against Disinformation” at Erasmus Huis, Jakarta. The event brought together around 100 participants, including policymakers, media professionals, civil society actors and academics to exchange insights on disinformation trends, challenges and potential solutions.
Co-hosted by the Embassies of Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the EU Delegation, the seminar focused on AI-driven threats, media literacy, and regulatory approaches. Three years after Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the discussion on Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) was both timely and crucial.
Speakers included representatives from the Indonesian Presidential Communication Office, the Estonian Government, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UK Government Communication Service, Airlangga University, the Association of Independent Journalists in Indonesia (AJI), the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI), leading Indonesian media outlets (Tempo and The Jakarta Post), Media Action and Polish civil society/ Development Policy Foundation.
Discussions underscored the urgent need for joint action against growing foreign interference, AI-generated disinformation and political polarisation. As disinformation continues to pose a serious threat to democracy, public trust, and social cohesion, initiatives such as this seminar play a vital role in fostering dialogue, developing strategies and promoting collective action.
