Europe on Screen 2022 hosts a 4-film retrospective of Federico Fellini

 

This year, the Europe on Screen (EOS) film festival will host a retrospective programme paying homage to the legendary Italian director Federico Fellini on the 102nd anniversary of his birth. This retrospective programme, also called #fellini102, will feature screenings of his classic films, a new documentary about the making of his classic films and an exhibition displaying his visual works. The retrospective programme will open with the film “Fellinopolis” on 17 June 2022 at 19:00 at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC).

Films directed by Fellini and about Fellini that will be screened at EOS 2022 are:

  1. Documentary film “Fellinopolis” (2020, 78 minutes, 13+)
  2. Drama film 8 ½ | Otto e mezzo (1963, 183 minutes, 17+)
  3. Comedy/ Drama Film “Juliet of the Spirits | Giulietta degli spiriti(1965, 137 minutes, 17+)
  4. Comedy/ Drama Film “I Vitelloni” (1953, 104 minutes, 17+)

In addition to screenings at IIC, films in the #fellini102 programme will also be held at other EOS 2022 festival venues.

Maria Battaglia, Director of IIC, expressed her appreciation for showcasing films by Federico Fellini as the EOS 2022 retrospective programme. “This concludes that Italian films, especially by our maestero Mr Federico Fellini, can interest, affect and was known to have a certain quality for cinemas in Indonesia. We hope, by this #fellini102 programme, Italian films can bring attention and have a special place for all cinemagoers”.

As the longest-running international film festival in Indonesia, EOS is showcasing this year a package of 69 films from 25 European countries. In-person or offline screenings will be held from 16 to 26 June 2022 in six major cities in Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Medan, Surabaya and Yogyakarta) while a selection of films will be showcased via virtual or online screenings on festivalscope.com from 20 to 30 June 2022. All of the festival’s film screenings and fringe events are free of charge.
