CONNECTING INDONESIA TO THE ENERGY OF TOMORROW
Indonesia and the European Union are working together to accelerate the transition to green energy. Together we are investing in sustainable energy programmes that make a positive impact on people’s lives today, and tomorrow. By using the power of wind, sun and water, we give power to the people of Indonesia.
MEET AMANDA
Hello, I'm Amanda, a badminton player and coach. My journey started in elementary school, playing with my father on small local courts where flickering lights were often part of the game. Now, I lead the club he founded, committed to giving every child the best start in their badminton journey.
Reliable and consistent lighting in our training halls has made a real difference in helping young players stay focused and develop their skills.
Stable electricity is essential for maintaining the right training conditions - from proper lighting to good ventilation - day and night. It allows us to train after school and ensures that every aspiring player has a fair chance to practice and improve. As access to reliable energy continues to expand across Indonesia, more young athletes will be able to train consistently, chase their dreams, and reach their full potential.
MEET ILHAM
Hello, I'm Ilham. When we founded our café in 2018, our dream was simple: to create a home for coffee lovers, families, students, and travelers. Our philosophy of balance - finding character in both the perfect and the imperfect - guides every coffee roast and every brew, and shapes the unique vibe of our space.
In our rustic charm, reliable electricity is essential for both comfort and quality.
It powers our coffee grinders and espresso machines, so each cup tastes just right. Warm lighting sets the mood, while ceiling fans keep the space comfortable. The mix of handcrafted charm and dependable energy allows us to grow and innovate - yet, remain a cozy, inviting place for coffee lovers.

ENERGY PROGRAMMES IN INDONESIA
Powering a cleaner energy future for Indonesia
Supported by the European Union, Indonesia’s Just Energy Transition Partnership is working to expand renewable energy - such as solar, wind, and hydropower - and gradually reduce coal-fired electricity, both on- and off-grid.
Backed by EUR 3.4 billion in investments, grants and loans, the programme is helping Indonesia’s power sector decarbonisation by upgrading electricity networks, adding more renewable energy to the grid, phasing out coal, and supporting faster renewable energy development. For people across Indonesia, this means more reliable electricity, cleaner air, safer communities, and new green jobs.
Communities shaping a sustainable future
This programme, supported by the European Union, helps civil society organisations and communities have a bigger say in clean energy and land use.
Working in four provinces - Jambi, Central Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, and Central Sulawesi - it funds pilot projects on clean energy and energy efficiency, helps communities plan ways to cut emissions, and provides tools to monitor land and forest use.
For people, this means better access to clean energy, a stronger voice in decisions, and improved protection for forests and land. By empowering civil society, the programme is helping build a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient Indonesia by 2030.
