The first event of this Dialogue Series was held on 3-4 March 2021 under the topic of "Smart City and Urban Innovation in Support of the Smart City Committee (Komite Kota Cerdas) Jakarta”. The Dialogue brought together stakeholders from the public and private sector, academia and civil society. The aim was to brainstorm innovative solutions for a Smart City and for improving good governance.

Yudhistira Nugraha, Director of Jakarta Smart City stated, “With this collaborative approach we are playing a pivotal role in developing linkages between key role players and local stakeholders, working closely with citizens, academia, our start up ecosystem and local communities. Through this activity we are expecting to increase public participation in order to improve public services and to provide solutions to city challenges by optimising digital technologies and urban innovation in Jakarta”.

H.E. Vincent Piket, Ambassador of the European Union to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam emphasised, “The EU is delighted to support the partnership between Jakarta and Berlin for Smart Innovation. This will improve city governance and services for the citizens in Jakarta and it will lead to a sustainable living environment for the citizen. Making cities Smart and Sustainable include promoting the role of women and making sure they have the chance to contribute to economic growth and social development.”

Jan Ramos Pandia, Chief Operating Officer of Hukumonline invites the public to participate in the exchange. “The dialogue is useful for the community to share their thoughts and ideas in solving problems in Jabodetabek,” he said.
