Strengthen University Teaching Hospitals in the fight against COVID-19 and pandemic preparedness

Summary:

On behalf of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), KfW Development Bank is supporting Indonesia’s efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic by providing a loan to the Government of Indonesia for completion and upgrade of two university teaching hospitals – Universitas Hassanudin (UNHAS) in Makassar and Universitas Brawijaya (UNIBRAW) in Malang.

KfW’s support is complemented by funds from the EU. With a grant funding of €10 million from the EU, this project aims to increase the response capacity of the two university teaching hospitals, including to strengthen virus surveillance in the region, increase test capacities for COVID-19, increase capacities for medical treatment of COVID-19 patients, as well as strengthen research capacities.
