Top official of European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation travels to Japan

Signe Ratso, the European Commission’s Acting Director-General for Research and Innovation, visited Tokyo from 24 to 27 January 2023 to discuss the possible association of Japan to Horizon Europe, the key funding programme of the European Union (EU), with relevant Japanese ministries, funding agencies and research entities.

On the occasion of her visit, the EU Delegation and Tohoku University co-organised a seminar in hybrid format  (hybrid seminar) on opportunities for research collaboration under clusters in the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2023-24 and on the benefits of association. The event opened with remarks by EU Ambassador to Japan Jean-Eric Paquet, and was followed by addresses from by Acting DG Ratso, Japanese policymakers, and presentations.  The Research Council of Norway testified to the benefits of association and also presented select Framework Programme projects.
