Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Ukraine – Political Section
We offer:
A traineeship of up to 6 months in 2026 within the Political Section of the EU Delegation.The tentative start date is 1 October 2026.
The Political Section of the Delegation of the EU in Ukraine is in charge of developing analysis and recommendations for HQ related to:
- political developments in the country;
- the process of accession to the EU and the reform process, including the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine;
- Ukraine's foreign investment policies;
- Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its economic consequences.
The trainee will be fully embedded in the work of the section, receive direct exposure to the EU activities in Ukraine, and be provided with a unique occasion to understand from inside the work of an EU Delegation in a third country.
Main tasks:
- Analysing political landscape and business climate in Ukraine;
- Gathering data and assessing ongoing progress in EU integration, from a political and economical point of view;
- Participating in internal and external meetings/events and reporting about them;
- Assisting the work of the Political Section as necessary.
We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:
- Due to the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, only Ukrainian citizens currently residing in Ukraine will be considered;
- Bachelor’s degree in law, economics, international relations, political science, sociology, or related field and completed or ongoing master studies;
- Very good command of Ukrainian language and very good command of spoken and written English;
- Very good command of main IT editing and presentation software;
- Good networking, interpersonal skills and attention to details;
- Proven interest for EU affairs, and in progressive alignment of Ukrainian financial and business legislation (e.g. energy, industrial policy, business support) with EU;
- Knowledge of Ukraine's institutional system and political landscape;
- Experience in analysis of legislation related to the political, economic and sociological sphere;
- Experience in working in a team and in coordinating inputs from various colleagues;
- Prior experience in legal matters, including in private practice, public administration or NGOs, working in the indicated areas of interest, will be a plus.
- Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after their graduation by the signing of the Traineeship agreement. (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience).

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation.
