The 7th #AUEU25 Summit has concluded in Luanda, Angola — marking 25 years of a strong AU-EU partnership

African and European leaders gathered in Luanda for the 7th AU–EU Summit, reaffirming 25 years of partnership and setting new priorities for the decade ahead. With President Mnangagwa representing Zimbabwe, the Summit delivered key commitments on trade, investment, clean energy, youth opportunities and global governance. 

The two-day 7th #AUEU25 Summit has concluded in Luanda, Angola — marking 25 years of a strong AU-EU partnership.
Zimbabwe was represented by President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, who joined African and European leaders in discussions on peace, prosperity and shared development, under the theme “Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism.”

The Summit reaffirmed a partnership built on trust, solidarity and tangible results — and set new priorities for the decade ahead.

Key Outcomes from Luanda

🔹 Trade & Economic Cooperation – Strong support for AfCFTA implementation, regional value chains (including critical minerals), and major connectivity projects like the Lobito Corridor.
🔹 Global Gateway & Investment – Over EUR 120 billion already mobilised in Africa as part of the EU’s EUR 150 billion Global Gateway investment package.
🔹 Clean Energy & Climate Action – Joint commitment to deliver clean electricity to 100 million Africans by 2030, expand renewable energy, advance clean cooking and support climate-resilient development.
🔹 Peace & Security – Reaffirmation of the UN Charter, calls for de-escalation in Sudan and the DRC, and stronger AU-EU cooperation to counter terrorism and organised crime.
🔹 Mobility, Youth & Skills – Enhanced cooperation on education, vocational skills, research, innovation and student mobility — creating more opportunities for Africa’s youth.
🔹 Multilateralism & Global Governance – Shared commitment to reform the UN system, strengthen global financial governance, and deliver ambitious climate action.
