Celebrating Partnership and Progress: A Look Back at Europe Day 2025 in Zimbabwe

From music and culture to diplomacy and business—Europe Day 2025 in Harare was a celebration of partnership and progress. With over 750 guests and powerful support from our sponsors, including Platinum partners NMB, Stanbic, and Ecobank, the event was a true showcase of collaboration in action. Read more about the highlights and see how it all came together.

On 9 May 2025, the Delegation of the European Union to Zimbabwe proudly hosted this year’s Europe Day celebrations in Harare, marking a significant moment of reflection, partnership, and celebration. The event brought together over 750 distinguished guests, including senior government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, private sector leaders, civil society, and cultural stakeholders.

This year’s theme, “Global Gateway: Powered by the Private Sector,” placed a strong emphasis on economic collaboration and highlighted the vital role of business in driving sustainable development. It was a message not only heard but also demonstrated in action—through the generous support and presence of a range of corporate sponsors who helped make the event a success.

In particular, the Delegation extends its sincere gratitude to the three Platinum Sponsors for their outstanding commitment and partnership:

  • NMB Bank Limited
  • Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe
  • Ecobank Zimbabwe

Their commitment at the highest sponsorship level was instrumental in the success of the 2025 Europe Day celebrations, contributing significantly to the event’s visibility, logistics, and guest engagement. Their presence on the day reflected the very spirit of public-private collaboration that Europe Day seeks to highlight.

We also warmly thank our Gold SponsorsCrown Bank, CABS, E-Branding Worx, and the European Investment Bank (EIB) — for their valued contributions, which enriched the scope and atmosphere of the celebration and helped deliver a high-quality experience for all guests.

Attendees enjoyed an evening of vibrant music, culinary offerings, and networking in an atmosphere that honoured not only the values of the European Union but also the strong partnership between the EU and Zimbabwe. A dedicated exhibition space gave sponsors the opportunity to connect directly with a distinguished audience and present their products and services.

One of the event’s highlights was the return of the popular “European Village,” hosted by the EU Ambassador and representatives from all 16 EU Member States present in Zimbabwe. The Village offered guests an immersive cultural journey across Europe, featuring national booths, traditional cuisine, and personal engagement with EU diplomats — a true celebration of Europe’s diversity and unity.

The 2025 celebrations also generated significant media and public engagement, with coverage appearing across leading television, radio, print and online outlets. The EU Delegation’s own social media platforms — which boast one of the highest followings of any EU Delegation worldwide — amplified this impact, offering sponsors additional visibility before, during, and after the event.

As we reflect on the success of Europe Day 2025, we are reminded that meaningful partnerships are at the heart of our work. We thank all our sponsors, and especially our Platinum sponsors, for standing with us in celebrating the values of unity, cooperation, and shared progress.
