Every child deserves a chance to learn and dream.

Rudo*, a 12-year-old from Chiredzi, is back in school and dreaming big. After missing two years of education due to financial hardship, she’s now thriving in class thanks to the EU-funded Fighting Child Labour and Child Trafficking project, implemented by Save the Children and Coalition Against Child Labour and Child Trafficking (CACLAZ).

Meet Rudo* Rudo* (not real name) , a 12-year-old girl from Chiredzi who is back in school — smiling, learning, and dreaming of becoming a nurse one day.

Just a short while ago, Rudo’s days were spent helping her grandmother with small jobs instead of going to class. Her family couldn’t afford school costs — and like many children, she risked falling behind for good.

But everything changed through the EU-funded Fighting Child Labour and Child Trafficking project, led by Save the Children together with Coalition Against Child Labour and Child Trafficking (CACLAZ).

Through community awareness campaigns and local initiatives — like a school goat-rearing project that helps pay for fees, uniforms, and books — more children like Rudo are finding their way back to the classroom.

Now, she’s learning her favorite subject, English, and proudly says:

“I want to do well in school so I can change my life and help my family.”
