Biography of Ambassador - Designate Katrin Hagemann

Katrin Hagemann is an EU diplomat originally from Berlin, Germany. 

Prior to her arrival in Zimbabwe, she was the Head of Division for Central Africa in the European External Action Service, and has served as Deputy Head of Delegation in Kenya (2019-2023) and Head of Political in Botswana (2015-2019). 

Ambassador Hagemann also has experience in human resources and in civilian crisis management missions. Prior to joining the EU, Ms. Hagemann worked for 2 years for the German Federal Foreign Office as a policy officer in the Europe Directorate. 

Ms. Hagemann holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College (1996) and a Master of Science in Astronomy from Cornell University (2000), as well as a Master of Advanced International Studies from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (2003). 

Outside her diplomatic career, Ms. Hagemann enjoys playing the piano and violin.
