Team Europe returns to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair for a fourth consecutive year

The EU Delegation joins forces with five Member State embassies, European companies, and EU-funded development projects at ZITF 2026 in Bulawayo.

The European Union will once again be present at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo this year, returning for the fourth consecutive edition with a Team Europe Pavilion that is the largest and most varied to date. Running from 22 to 26 April 2026, the pavilion brings together five EU Member State embassies, a strong contingent of European companies, and a wide range of EU-funded development projects — all under one roof at one of southern Africa's most prominent trade and investment events.

The EU's continued presence at ZITF reflects its long-term commitment to Zimbabwe as a partner in trade, investment, sustainable development, and people-to-people exchange. This year's edition showcases the full breadth of that relationship, from heavy industry and logistics to agriculture, education, and youth empowerment.

Member States and European companies at the stand

Five EU Member State embassies will be represented at the pavilion — Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, and the Netherlands — each bringing their own programme of engagement and, in several cases, accompanying European businesses.

Husqvarna, Atlas Copco, Fogmaker & Sandvik — machinery, compressors, fire suppression and remote mining technology

🇫🇷

France

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) — one of Africa's leading freight and logistics operators

🇩🇪

Germany

GIZ (GET.pro Zimbabwe) and the Zimbabwe German Society / Goethe Zentrum — development cooperation and cultural exchange

🇮🇹

Italy

WeBuild, Murimi 24/7 (OCMIS irrigation systems) and Sue's Bakery & Delicatessen

🇳🇱

Netherlands

PUM senior expert network and the WESRP programme — supporting smallholder farmers and inclusive supply chains

🇧🇪

Belgium

Schréder (smart outdoor lighting) and AWEX (Wallonia Export & Investment Agency)

Sweden brings the largest company delegation, with four businesses covering a wide range of industrial sectors. Husqvarna will display agricultural, forestry, and construction machinery; Atlas Copco, represented locally by Mike Appel Industries, will showcase generators, compressors, and dewatering equipment; Fogmaker will present its internationally recognised fire suppression systems for vehicles and heavy machinery; and Sandvik Mining and Construction Zimbabwe will demonstrate remote monitoring services for the mining sector.

Italy's delegation spans infrastructure, precision agriculture, and food. WeBuild — a global infrastructure and dam construction company with a long history in Zimbabwe, including the original construction of the Kariba Dam in 1955 — will present its ongoing and forthcoming work in the country, including the Runde Tende multipurpose dam project. Murimi 24/7 will exhibit OCMIS centre-pivot and hose-reel irrigation systems, while Sue's Bakery and Delicatessen will offer visitors a taste of artisanal Italian produce sourced from small-scale producers in Puglia, Abruzzo, and Napoli.

From Belgium, Schréder (represented by BEKA Schréder) specialises in smart outdoor and street lighting solutions, while AWEX — the official export and investment promotion agency of the Wallonia region — will be on hand to facilitate connections between Zimbabwean businesses and Belgian counterparts. The French Embassy is accompanied by Africa Global Logistics (AGL), one of Africa's major logistics and freight forwarding operators, which is exhibiting alongside the French diplomatic presence at the pavilion.

Germany's representation takes the form of development and cultural engagement: GIZ will showcase its work across local governance, renewable energy, health, climate change, and gender-based violence prevention, while the Zimbabwe German Society and Goethe Zentrum will provide information on German language learning and educational pathways to Germany. The Netherlands Embassy will highlight its focus on sustainable water management and climate-resilient agriculture, presenting partnerships with PUM — a Dutch network of over 5,000 volunteer senior experts who have supported more than 300 Zimbabwean businesses through an MoU with ZimTrade — and the WESRP programme, which is currently training 3,000 smallholder farmers, 60% of whom are women, across several agricultural value chains.

EU-funded projects at the pavilion

A significant portion of the Team Europe Pavilion is dedicated to EU-funded development projects with active programmes across Zimbabwe. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet project teams, learn about ongoing work, and explore opportunities for engagement.

The YCa4SoTra project (Youth Collective Action for Social Transformation), funded by the EU and implemented by Save the Children, SAYWHAT, and WILD, will present a dedicated "Youth Futures Lab" space. The exhibition highlights how young Zimbabweans are accessing green jobs, developing digital skills, and engaging in policy dialogue through EU-supported programmes. Sixteen youth-led civil society organisations will take turns exhibiting across the five days of the fair.

The SAHWIRA project, implemented by Sustainable Agriculture Technology (SAT) and Welthungerhilfe with EU funding, works with over 30,000 smallholder farming households in Mwenezi, Chiredzi, and Beitbridge. The project focuses on irrigated and dryland value chains — including paprika, sesame, sugar beans, and sunflower — and will use the ZITF platform to demonstrate how EU investment in agriculture is linking smallholder farmers to local and export markets.

Additional EU-funded projects exhibiting at the stand include the ZRBF II RECLAIM and USHINGI programmes (implemented by CARE International and DanChurchAid respectively), the HARVEST food systems project by Welthungerhilfe, the RAIZ agricultural research project by CIRAD, and FISH4ACP — the EU-supported fisheries and aquaculture value chain programme implemented by FAO.

Erasmus+: study and exchange opportunities in Europe

For students, academics, and institutions, the Team Europe Pavilion will include a dedicated Erasmus+ information desk operated by the EU Delegation. The desk will provide information on scholarships, student and staff exchange programmes, joint degree opportunities, and youth mobility grants available to Zimbabwean applicants. Those interested in pursuing study or research opportunities in Europe are encouraged to visit the desk, where EU Delegation staff will be available throughout the fair.
