Zimbabwe EPA Support Project

This project seeks to assist the Government of Zimbabwe in the implementation of the interim- Economic Partnership Agreement (i-EPA) between the European Union and the Government of Zimbabwe.

The overall objective of the ZEPA project is to enhance Zimbabwe’s integration into the regional and international trading system through:

1.            Reforming and streamlining policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks in order to incentivize production and trade;

2.            Reducing trading costs and to expedite movement, release and clearance of goods; and

3.            Improving the competiveness and export capacity of small and medium sized enterprises.

The ZEPA Programme has three components as follows;

  1. Technical Assistance to support the achievement of the specific objectives through procedural support by the TA team and technical expertise through mobilised short-term experts on demand and needs basis.
  2. Grants to support enhanced production, quality improvement and marketing a number of value chains in horticulture.
  3. Procurement of supplies aimed at strengthening the capacities of a number of government agencies involved with the implementation of the i-EPA including procurement of supplies in support of trade facilitation at three of the country’s border posts.
