# Live Stream - LIVING ROOM CELEBRATION & Cultural Orchestration

On 9 May 2020 at 11h00 (Vienna time)

Now more than ever is the opportunity to celebrate European unity and solidarity on Europe Day. A special connection radiates through European Member States to inspire an European audience from private living rooms into another. 9 Artists living all across the European Union, from the Baltic to the Mediterranean, from Brussels to Vienna will live stream from their living rooms to gather for an artistic celebration of 1 hour Live Stream event!

What will be in the programme during one hour?

- A Live Stream Performance of 9 Artists performing for 9 Minutes the 9th of Beethoven on the 9th May. It will be an orchestration of an artistic relay race performing the 9th Symphony by 9 Artists in changing circles. Every artist will perform one after the other in continuation the Ode of Joy. Every artist, from different EU Member States, will be from a different genre in music from classical to pop, jazz, rap, etc. The production is an unique piece of performing the European Anthem which is brought for the first time as an artistic relay race, symbolising the circulation, solidarity, creativity within the European Union. Also part of this performance will be a sign language interpreter.

- Official statements from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell and from Austrian Government

- Short Live Talks with artists from all over the EU about the European Solidarity and life in difficult times during confinement. Short insight in people’s special experiences, inspirations, changes in the day-to-day lives and how it feels to be a European.

Why artistic relay race format?

In these days of confinement many artists and orchestras trying to react to the lockdown phase with an artistic answer. Many of them produce beautiful imagery and song clips which reach out to thousands in the make-believe that these orchestrations are Live-Stream Recordings.

None of the properly produced clips are in fact real – Live Streams, but pre-produced sound recordings, where each Orchestra member delivers a sound clip and additionally a video clip which then are mixed in the Studio. The modern and classic technical streaming platforms always leave at least a minimum latency which would make a classic live stream impossible to be experienced like in a high quality expected to experience in a real venue or theatre.

Therefor we came up with the idea to perform the Ode to Joy as the European Anthem and Hymn in the year to celebrate Europa Day, 25 Years of Austria in EU, 70 Years of Schuman Declaration, 75 Years of UN, 250th Birthday of Beethoven as well as EU Solidarity and Multilateralism.

Symbolically we will try to create scenery like relay race, where one musician performs a part of the symphony, followed by the next one who continues in a different genre and so on. A sign language interpreters will be a part of this special orchestration symbolising solidarity and the awareness of socially disadvantaged people suffering these days or needing more attention than normal, to orchestrate a full power reflection on the European Solidarity.
