Eastern Partnership: Visit of EU Special Envoys to Armenia and Azerbaijan
Special Envoys, Directors, and Ambassadors for the Eastern Partnership from twelve EU Member States (Austria, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden) and the EEAS Special Envoy for the Eastern Partnership visited Armenia (on 15 and 16 November) and Azerbaijan (on 17 and 18 November) and held meetings with representatives of the national authorities of both states.
During the meetings, the EU representatives confirmed the EU’s ongoing commitment to strengthening relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan and sought ideas from partners on how to recalibrate the future Eastern Partnership in the new context of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia’s European perspective and the launch of the European Political Community.
In Armenia, they were received by the President and by the Prime Minister of Armenia and held meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Vice President of the National Assembly, Secretary of the Security Council and representatives of civil society organisations.
In Azerbaijan, they were received by the President of Azerbaijan and met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the International and Interparliamentary Relations Committee of the Parliament, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action and representatives of civil society organisations.
In both countries, they participated in briefings organised by the Heads of the EU Delegations and had the opportunity to meet with Heads of Mission of the Member States of the EU.
