Organisers: EuroMed Feminist Initiative and Duderi Organisation

This panel seeks to delve into the crucial role of values such as diversity, inclusion, and equality in education for peacebuilding.

The thematic areas that will be covered during the side-event will include: the examination of exclusion and violence within the education system and their implications on peacebuilding efforts, as well as the dynamics involving violence, gender-based discrimination, religious and ethnic bias, propaganda, lack of inclusivity, and gender insensitivity within the educational framework. It will shed light on the pivotal role of education in either fostering or impeding the path toward sustainable peace and social cohesion.

This side event contributes to the Brussels conference by providing valuable insights and recommendations derived from discussions with individuals across diverse backgrounds in Syria. It aims to guide policymakers and stakeholders in aligning the educational system with broader objectives related to peace and conflict resolution. Additionally, it sheds light on the disproportionate impact of the current educational approach on women, highlighting instances of VAWG.
