EEAS Vacancy: Funded traineeships for young graduates at the EU Delegation to CABO VERDE - Political, Press and Information Section (PPI)
Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Cabo Verde?
We offer:
Traineeships of up to 6 months in 2026 within in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) section of the EU Delegation, subject to availability of the budget. The tentative start date is 01/03/2026 for the 1st traineeship (till 31/08/2026) and 01/09/2026 for the 2nd traineeship (till 28/02/2027).
The PPI section comprises a section head, an assistant, and a press and information officer. Its portfolio is quite broad, covering the monitoring of political developments, cooperation projects in the field of security (maritime and beyond), trade issues, fisheries-related topics, as well as consular coordination and oversight of the mobility agreement (including Schengen visas). This offers the prospect of a diverse internship experience).
Main tasks:
- Assisting the Section in the drafting of press releases, press reviews, and other relevant documents;
- Assisting the Section in the drafting of press releases, press reviews, and other relevant documents;
- Assisting in the management of the EUD's website and social media platforms ( Facebook, Instagram and Twitter); Conceptualize and implement social media campaigns to enhance EU visibility;
- Support the conception and organisation of EUD public and cultural events, press conferences, Europe Day event, etc.;
- Participating and assisting in EUD's events and EU-funded projects' activities;
- Assisting in the organization of database and relevant filing systems;
- Assisting in administrative tasks typical of an International mission;
- Attend and report meetings and other relevant events;
- Assisting the Section in the preparation of studies or evaluations of different sectors of activity in agreement with the HoS and the HoD;
We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in international relations, law, economy, communication, political science;
- Fluent in Portuguese and English (written and spoken). Desirable knowledge of French;
- Excellent analytical, drafting and IT skills;
- Excellent time management as well as strong communication skills;
- Prior experience in an international environment and/or related work in the communication sector is considered an advantage.
- Desirable: Experience with media programs and content creation (InDesign, Photoshop, Video creation, etc.)
- The candidate will have less than one year of professional experience after his graduation by the signing of the Traineeship agreement (even if the traineeship is offered in the 2nd semester 2026)

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
