Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Dominican Republic - Trade Section

Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Dominican Republic?

We offer:

A traineeship of 6 months in 2026 within the TRADESection of the EU Delegation to Dominican Republic, subject to availability of the budget. The tentative start date is 1^st Semester 2026.

Under the supervision of the Head of the Trade section, coordination, monitoring and reporting on trade and investment relations between the EU and the Dominican Republic and, particularly in the framework of the implementation of the EPA and EU-CARIFORUM Economic Partnership Agreement.

Main tasks: 

• Contribute to the monitoring and reporting on trade and investment issues.
• Monitor press/media reviews/social media concerning local coverage of issues in the areas assigned.
• Provide on request briefings, presentations, statistical data, draft speeches, press releases and articles concerning the areas assigned.
• Assisting the Section in the organisation of visibility events and promotion material.
• Contribute to prepare, provide support and assistance to high-level visits.
• Contribute to improving the visibility, communication and perception of trade-related issues and activities carried out in the Dominican Republic by the European Union.

We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

• Citizens of Dominican Republic or nationals from the EU Member States or States, which have signed an accession agreement with the EU;
• Young graduates with at least a Bachelor Diploma (or equivalent) in international relations, economy, trade, political science, law or related field;
• Maximum one year of full time paid professional experience by the signing date of the traineeship agreement;
• No previous experience in the EU Institutions longer than 6 weeks;
• Excellent command of Spanish and English is required (Minimum C1 in written and speaking skills);
• Prior knowledge of the region and experience in the corresponding field will be an asset;

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. 

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. 

Citizens from EU Member states:

• must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
• must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
