Funded traineeships for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Egypt
We offer:
Traineeships of up to 6 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation to Egypt, starting in October 2025.
Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI):
The Political, Press and Information Section monitors and analyses political developments, manages relations with government and civil society and promotes EU values and policies. It also handles media relations, public diplomacy and strategic communication to enhance the EU's visibility in Egypt.
Main tasks:
- Research on issues regarding PPI job;
- Support PPI on day to day work (preparation and attendance to meeting organizational and logistic tasks);
- Assist in preparation of press and information and public diplomacy activities;
- Update the Delegation's website and social media platforms;
- Assist in writing press statements, in addition to press reports on specific issues related to how the EU and the activities of its Delegation are portrayed in the media;
- Assist in meetings and drafting minutes.
Traineeship in the Trade Section (TRADE):
The Trade Section promotes and monitors EU-Egypt trade relations, supports the implementation of the EU-Egypt Association Agreement and engages in dialogue with Egyptian authorities on trade policy and market access issues. It also assists EU businesses, advocates for fair and transparent trade practices and contributes to the development of bilateral and regional trade cooperation.
Main tasks:
- Conduct research and drafting notes on subjects related to trade and economy;
- Monitor developments in trade and investment;
- Prepare materials for economic and trade reports (incl. compilation of press articles, statistical data, and macroeconomic analysis);
- Logistical help with the preparation of meetings and events;
- Participate in workshops and conferences;
- Assist in meetings and drafting minutes.
Traineeship in the Cooperation section (COOP):
The Cooperation Section manages and oversees the EU's development assistance and partnership programmes in Egypt. Its main activities include identifying, implementing and monitoring programmes and projects in key sectors such as governance, economic development, environment, climate, education and social inclusion, in line with EU priorities and Egypt's national strategies. The Section also coordinates with Egyptian authorities, EU Members States and international partners to ensure effective delivery and impact of EU-Funded cooperation.
Main tasks:
- Support in following up and documenting progress gender mainstreaming in line with the EU Gender Action Plan;
- Support in tasks related to planning and convening the Development Partner Groups chaired by COOP in particular the Governance Group;
- Follow up on a timely input, update, and implementation of the Section communication plan, with particular focus on communication activities during international and national days;
- Support in event planning, organisation and logistics;
- Assist in drafting concept notes and reports for the section

Qualifications or special requirements:
- Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in the Arab Republic of Egypt will only be considered.
- Interest in - and preferably knowledge of - Egyptian politics;
- Ability to handle sensitive issues in a responsible manner;
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills;
- Excellent English and Egyptian languages skills.

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
