MAISHA is a testimony of co-creation, the power of art to unite and a successful example of Africa-Europe cooperation and intercultural dialogue and solidarity, spreading shared values of coexistence and humanity.

The project was created in 2019 in Addis-Ababa. In 12 days, complete strangers with different backgrounds and instruments became musical partners unified by the common language of music.

MAISHA embodies the "people to people" dimension of the EU-African Union partnership, reaching well beyond institutional circles.

MAISHA (Swahili word for ‘life’) is a magical fusion of crossover Jazz, instrumental Hip-Hop and world beat.

The crew of musicians is an ode to diversity. There are seven Africans, four Europeans and one artist in between the two continents.

They will be joined on stage by a very special guest: Mr Youssou N'Dour, world-known singer, long-time advocate for cultural dialogue and bold experiments.

The concert closes the 1st edition of the Africa-Europe Week, which brings youth, civil society and the private sector together to discuss aspects of the #AfricaEU Partnership that matter to them the most in the run-up of the 6th #AUEU Summit on 17 and 18 February 2022 in Brussels, Belgium.
