Jessica is one of Malta's best table-tennis players. Despite her success, Jessica is a very modest girl with a warm smile and a big heart.

When she is not playing table-tennis, she dedicates her life to caring for elderly and sick priests with multiple comorbidities at Dar Tal-Kleru (Clergy Home).

Since the Coronavirus outbreak Jessica dropped everything to go and stay at the home, to ensure 24/7 protection for the residents.

“It has been quite hard for some residents, especially for those priests who were still carrying out their pastoral duties outside. Those who were used to having family members and friends visiting them, have felt it greatly too,” says Jessica. “What they really need at this moment is my support. A few minutes of my time to clarify their concerns, a hand to hold when they are scared, someone to reach out to, someone they can trust,” Jessica says.

“Of course, it is not easy. I have not been outside and haven’t been going home near my family. I forgot the last time I was able to hug my brother and yes… it is mentally exhausting. But I wouldn’t have chosen differently. The real satisfaction I get from being a nurse, is a smile from a resident that fills my heart with motivation to carry on. From my experience I can tell you that no matter how much you give, you will receive much more… the ultimate reward is not money but the feeling of peace in your heart, especially in such a difficult period.”
