UNGA80: High Representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas travels to New York
On Sunday 21 September, High Representative/Vice-President (HRVP) Kallas, together with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa, will represent the EU at the trilateral meeting with the African Union and the United Nations. They will then hold a bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General António Guterres. She will also co-host a Ministerial gathering on the Middle East together with the Foreign Minister of Qatar.
On Monday 22 September, HRVP Kallas will participate in the High-Level Commemorative Meeting of the General Assembly on UN@80. In the afternoon, she will chair the informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers, followed by a press conference, which will be transmitted on EBS. She will then participate in a meeting of G7 Foreign Ministers.
On Tuesday 23 September, HRVP Kallas will join President Costa and President von der Leyen for the opening of the General Debate of the 80th UN General Assembly. In the afternoon, she will participate in the UN Security Council meetings on Ukraine and the Middle East.
On Wednesday 24 September, HRVP Kallas will co-host together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia the meeting of EU and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Foreign Ministers. She will then host a meeting with leaders from the Western Balkans. In the afternoon, she will co-host together with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the Ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance and co-host the Ministerial meeting “Joint Efforts for De-escalation in Sudan”, together with Germany, France, the African Union and the UK. In the evening, she will then attend the Transatlantic Foreign Ministers' meeting hosted by the US Secretary of State.
On Thursday 25 September, HRVP Kallas will participate the High-Level meeting on Women, Peace and Security, organised by Morocco, Guatemala and France. She will then attend the G20 Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Affairs, chaired by South Africa where she will deliver a statement. In the afternoon, she will take part and deliver remarks at the Ministerial meeting of the Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee on Palestine.
