European Film Festival launches its eighth edition in Sudan

The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan announced the launching of the eighth edition of the European Film Festival on Saturday 19th November 2016. 

This year the festival brings 20 films from 18 European countries including: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal,Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the European Union.

The screenings will be from 20-30 November at 07:30pm at six venues including Goethe Institut, British Council and Institut Francais, Royal Embassy of Netherlands, DAL Excellence Centre and Al Faisal Cultural Centre.  The festival is co- sponsored by DAL Group, Capital Radio 91.6, Al Roayah Company, and Acropole Hotel.

The opening ceremony will be held on November 19 at the premises of the EU Delegation.  The opening ceremony will be addressed by their excellences the Head of Delegation of the European Union and the Minister of Culture. The ceremony will include a reception and a concert by the Sudanese singer, Nile.

The European Film Festival is considered one of the major cinematic events in Sudan and has shown more than 90 films for 120,000 Sudanese and international audience.

The Delegation of the European Union announced that the festival this year brings highly artistic drama, comedy, documentary movies that were screened in international festivals like Berlin Film Festival, Bayreuther Film Festival, Évora International Short Film Festival, Leipzig Festival For Documentary And Animated Films, Carthage Film Festival, International Short Film Festival Hamburg, Cannes Film Festival, Stony Brook Film , Arras Film Festival, Skip City International D-Cinema Festival, Trondheim International, , Romania Gopo Film, Tribeca film festival, Gaudi awards, Goya awards, Venice Film Festival and Zurich Film Festival.
