Winners of the fourth BABYLON Award for Best Young Translator to be announced on 26 September - the European Day of Languages -
The winners of the fourth BABYLON Award for Best Young Translator, organised by the Delegation of the European Union and the MATA Translators and Interpreters’ Association, will be announced on Tuesday, 26 September, at 12:00 hrs, at the RAMSTORE Mall, on the occasion of the 2017 European Day of Languages.
The awards will be handed over by H.E. Samuel ŽBOGAR, Head of Delegation of the European Union, and Ms Ognena NIKULJSKI, President of MATA Translators and Interpreters’ Association.
The objectives of the Best Young Translator Competition, launched by the Delegation of the European Union in 2013, are to promote young translators as well as to encourage excellence in translating literary works. The Competition is open for young translators, up to 26 years old, while the entries must be translations of literary works from any of the 24 official languages of the European Union into any of the languages spoken in the country.
At the event, the fifth edition of the BABYLON Award for Best Young Translator will be announced. The detailed criteria for the 2018 Award will be published on the same day, 26 September.
This year's awarding ceremony is part of an event organised together with EUNIC Skopje (European Union National Institites for Culture) where students will have the opportunity to take part in language workshops as well as visit the stands where books in various European languages and books translated into local languages under the Creative Europe Programme will be exhibited.
