Statement by the Spokesperson on the terrorist attacks in Baghdad

Baghdad has been once again the target of a number of terrorist attacks causing a large number of casualties amongst Iraqi civilians. The European Union extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the authorities of the country.

Showing mutual solidarity and unity against violence is the best way to defeat terrorism fully and construct a brighter future for the country. At this critical crossroads in Iraq history, the EU reaffirms its continued commitment to stand by the Iraqis and their government to build a stable and peaceful Iraq.
