Common Security and Defence Policy is one of the crucial components of the EU's integrated approach. In order to emphasise the value and multidimensional perspective of the integrated approach, the EU Military Staff supported by the ESDC Secretariat conducted a pilot course on Comprehensive Crisis Management. The event was facilitated by the European External Action Service, in particular the Division on Prevention of Conflicts, Rule of Law/Security Sector Reform, Integrated Approach, Stabilisation and Mediation (PRISM).

The course was held in Brussels from 30 January to 1 February 2018 as part of the Advanced Modular Training. The new programme is composed of three modules. It is designed for senior officers and civilian personnel assigned to CSDP-related posts for the EU institutions in the field. The programme will provide the target audience with the right knowledge, skills and competences to perform their duties both in headquarters and theatre.

The programme also facilitates the network between diplomats, civilian experts, police officers and military. Thereby, it strengthens the creation of the European security culture.
