European Ambassadors for LGBT
It has become a tradition that the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Japan, together with our Member States and our other European friends, will take part in the 2018 Tokyo Rainbow Pride. Please visit our EU booth, shared with Belgium, Germany, France and Ireland, as well as the UK, Dutch and Nordic countries' booths.
In addition, European ambassadors, embassy staff, their families and friends will participate, for the second time, in the Tokyo Rainbow Pride Parade to show our support for the LGBT community in Japan.
LGBT rights are human rights that transcend borders. Everyone has the right to be who they want to be regardless of their background or origin. Openness, tolerance and inclusion are core European beliefs.
Many European countries have made progress on LGBT rights, but there is still much work to be done in Europe as everywhere else. We hope to learn from and work together with Japan to jointly promote these rights. The Tokyo Rainbow Pride Parade is a great opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of diversity.
Let’s celebrate at the Tokyo Rainbow Pride Parade together!
Date: Sunday, 6 May, 2018
Time: First marching group starts at 12.00 (European ambassadors are in Group Six)
