Lieutenant-General Piotr Blazeusz visits CAT-C
The Polish Vice CHief Of Defence (CHOD), LtGen Piotr BLAZEUSZ paid a working visit to Combined Arms Training Command (CAT-C). CAT-C operates in Poland under the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM UA). The aim of the visit was to discuss effectiveness, challenges and possible adaptation of the mission to the current requirements of the Ukrainian forces. An overall conclusion was that the mission fulfills its mandate, is successful and contributes to strengthening the Ukrainian military capacity.
He also observed training of Ukrainian soldiers conducted in different training modules in Poland. During the visit the general spoke with Polish and international trainers and modules directors, as well as, Ukrainian trainees and instructors.
Based on the 11th Armoured Cavalry Division HQ Combined Arms Training, CAT-C serves as a field HQ for EUMAM UA. It directs and coordinates training activities for the Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel at basic, advanced and specialised levels conducted on Polish soil in 12 different hubs. It provides junior leadership training from section/squad and platoon levels up to company, including operational training: preparation of companies, battalions and brigades in collective manoeuvres and tactics up to battalion level; and advice on the planning, preparation and conduct of live firing exercises. There is nearly a thousand of instructors, half of them international personnel from 9 different partners from EU countries, engaged in training in over 90 different modules. In 2024 it is planned to train an additional several thousand of Ukrainian soldiers.
