CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: EU-China 'Voyage of Discovery' Children's Art Exhibition 2018
As part of the official celebration of the EU-China Tourism Year, the Delegation of the European Union to China is organising this year's Children's Art Exhibition with the theme of "EU-China: Voyage of Discovery" in co-operation with the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development.
Originally started in Beijing in 2011, the annual EU-China children's art exhibition has already reached other cities too, like Baiyin in Gansu, Changchun in Jilin and Zuzhou in Hunan.
This year, the exhibition will include new locations: Yantai, Datong, Qingdao, Kunming and Shenzhen, while keeping previous cities Changchun and Beijing.
2018 is the EU-China Tourism Year, therefore the main theme of this year's exhibitions is tourism. In case participating cities already have or plan to have sister city relations with Chinese or European cities respectively, children are welcome to draw their impressions of those partner cities. Chinese citizens and citizens of European Union member countries are eligible for participation including ex-pats from EU countries living in China.
The selection committee will select the best 600 drawings from the 28 EU member countries and China. These drawings will be exhibited in the above-mentioned Chinese cities. All participants will be given a certificate of participation issued by the Delegation of the European Union to China. Teachers will also receive a certificate of participation. In addition, the finest 12 drawings - selected from the best 600 drawings - will be featured in the yearly calendar of the EU Delegation to China.
The age of participants should be between 4-25 years, with the following age groups: 4-6, 7-12, 13-18 and 19-25. All sorts of techniques are accepted for the artworks.
Selection committee: 3-4 European members (appraising Chinese drawings) and 2-4 Chinese members (evaluating European works). There will also be local selection committees scoring the artworks.
