Boosting Readiness: FAZSOI Engages in Specialised Programme with Mozambican Defence

The technical capabilities of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) have been strengthened through a specialised maintenance programme carried out at the Military Driving School in Maputo between 17 September and 2 October. Sixteen FADM personnel directly involved in maintenance services received both theoretical and practical training in automotive maintenance, supported by three experts from the French Armed Forces in the Southern Indian Ocean Zone (FAZSOI).
This hands-on training enhances the autonomy of Mozambican military technicians, enabling them to ensure the upkeep of their own equipment. By reinforcing self-sufficiency, the programme directly contributes to the operational readiness and sustainability of the FADM – a crucial factor in strengthening Mozambique’s national defence capacity.
The initiative is part of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ), which works to support the country’s security sector and promote stability. Since its launch, EUMAM MOZ has already provided specialised training to more than 500 members of the Mozambican Armed Forces. The cooperation between FAZSOI, EUMAM MOZ, and the FADM illustrates the European Union’s commitment to building local capacity, ensuring long-term resilience, and fostering peace and security in Mozambique and the wider region.
