The Second Batch of MEETup Programme comes to a successful end!

I have grown more in these four months than in the last four years of my life. As a person and as a changemaker, finding my voice along the way”, said a MEETup member when commenting about the programme.

The second edition of the MEETup (Myanmar-EU EmpowermenT) programme successfully completed on 10 December. Initially launched in 2024, the MEETup is the European Union’s flagship youth initiative in Myanmar, funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the EU Delegation to Myanmar. The programme brings young people aged 16 to 24 across Myanmar, to connect, learn, and engage with EU representatives, EU Member States, partners and projects.

Throughout four months, the EU Delegation to Myanmar organized meetings, dialogues, role playing exercises and Embassy visits on various topics, allowing the youth participants to learn, collaborate, and gain confidence, while deepening their understanding of the EU and its role in Myanmar.

The youth participants also joined several voluntary community events, workshops, site visits and had the opportunity to design and execute their own small projects within their communities and networks.

In this cohort, 25 young participants made visits to several EU Member State Embassies in Myanmar, strengthening their understanding of the European Union’s values, policies, development cooperation in Myanmar.

During the last month of the programme, the youth participants worked in teams to design and implement community-based final projects, utilizing networks and knowledge acquired in previous sessions. Through their four projects, the MEETup members became multipliers of shared messages, reaching more than 300 people across Myanmar.

The MEETup (Myanmar-EU EmpowermenT) programme provides the unique opportunity for Myanmar youths to play an active role in strengthening the relation of European Union and the people of Myanmar, while equipping them with skills, network and knowledge to become active changemakers and future leaders within their communities.
