High Representative Federica Mogherini met Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili
Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met today the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
The High Representative and Georgian Foreign Minister examined the good results and concrete benefits for the citizens of the first year of implementation of the Association Agreement with Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. They also underlined the rapid progress by Georgia towards visa liberalisation, with many benchmarks already achieved, in the view of the best possible outcome by the end of the year. Mogherini and Kvirikashvili discussed the reform track that Georgia is pursuing, including in the fields of democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights.
The High Representative and the Deputy Prime Minister also exchanged views on the situation in the wider region, where she stressed the European Union's support to Georgia's territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders as well as the EU's commitment to conflict resolution.
The High Representative is looking forward to visiting Georgia soon.
