The HRVP underlined the importance of the EU's relationship with the UAE (visa waiver, commonality of views of most regional dossiers, trade ties), including in promoting moderation and fighting against radicalization. Unmasking those who want to hijack religion for their power ambitions had to be a common endeavour.

The HRVP stressed the important role of Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi as a living proof of the benefit of women empowerment to the broader society, and welcomed the gradual expansion of the FNC's electoral basis and prerogatives to increase political participation and oversight of government.

Both sides discussed respective efforts to address the plight of refugees from Syria, agreeing on the need for them to be given a perspective of return to a peaceful country.

The HRVP and Dr. Amal also exchanged views on a number of other pressing issues (Yemen, Iran).

During her visit, Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi also had the opportunity to meet with Carlos Moedas, EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, with the President of the European Parliament (EP), Martin Schulz, and with various members of the EP. The FNC Chair also took part to an EU-UAE seminar on "Women empowerment in a changing political world", organized in the European Parliament.

Dr. Al Qubaisi visited Maelbeek metro station in Brussels and offered heartfelt condolences to the victims of the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels.
