The European Union Delegation issues the following statement in agreement with the EU Heads of Mission in Kenya. This statement is also jointly issued with the Heads of Mission of the United States of America, Norway, Australia and Canada.

As friends of Kenya, we welcome the good work of the parliamentary Joint Select Committee to Address Reforms to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and the Parliament’s final approval on September 8 of electoral reforms to advance the goal of a free, fair, peaceful, and credible election in August 2017.  We applaud the bi-partisan commitment demonstrated in the process to support Kenyan democracy.

We urge all Kenyans to continue to work together to support electoral reform and ensure a credible and peaceful election next year.  As partners, we will do all we can to support the success of the election.
