The ice carving was unveiled on 30 January at Confederation Park and depicts the 40th anniversary logo, which was designed by La Cité collégiale graphic design student Anne-Marie Cantin as part of a school contest.

The occasion also served to recognize the talent of the logo contest winner as well as contest finalists, Gabrielle Bégin and Annie Mallet. The European Union Delegation to Canada is thrilled to partner with Winterlude/Heritage Canada on this commemorative year with this ice carving. The 38th edition of Winterlude runs until 15 February. This is the European Union Delegation's first time participating at this annual winter celebration.
