Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Cambodia
Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Cambodia?
We offer:
Two traineeships of up to 6 months in 2026 within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Cambodia,. The tentative start date are
- 1st Traineeship planned period June - November 2026;
- 2nd Traineeship planned period November 2026 – April 2027.
In this position you would potentially be dealing with political and human rights issues as well as with press and public diplomacy issues.
Main tasks:
- Redact daily press review
- Gather and monitor daily incoming news and information
- Gather and monitor Khmer social media
- Analyse political and human rights developments
- Assist in political reporting
- Draft background notes on specific issues
- Develop content for the different EU Delegation social media platforms and website
- Support the preparation and implementation of communication and public diplomacy activities
- Attend conferences, seminars and meetings and take minutes of them
- Contribute to administrative tasks as required
We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:
- Holder of at least Bachelor- level degree, notably in international relations, political science, European affairs, public affairs, journalism, communication or law
- Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing date of the traineeship agreement (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience).
- Interest in and preferably prior knowledge of the EU institutional framework and polices
- Interest in and preferably prior knowledge of Cambodian and ASEAN political affairs
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Ability to handle politically sensitive issues in a responsible manner
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills in English
Other desirable assets:
- Experience in civil society organizations and media and communication

Basic technical skills in photography and video editing

N.B. It is possible to apply for both traineeship sessions, however, you can only be selected for one of the two sessions, June – November 2026 or November 2026 – April 2027. Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
