EUTM Mozambique trains FADM and more

 

EUTM Mozambique conducted different types of trainings for and with the Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique (FADM). Amongst others,  at the Dongo Training Centre, #EUTMMOZ and #FADM trainers conducted a collective combat techniques evaluation to the Special Forces of the Mozambican Army that will become part of a Quick Reaction Force (QRF). The trainees were tested in several areas, namely: communications, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3), land navigation, and others. This evaluation is the evaluation of the Team Phase of the training program.

At Katembe Training Centre, the focus was on offensive operations' Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), urban combat, and individual weapons' procedures.These training sessions have allowed the FADM ansd the EUTM Mozambican trainers to share not only technical but also cultural experiences.

Finally, at Mavalane Training Centre, FADM trainees simulated Close Air Support Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP).

 

More than training

Next to that, the mission also invested in their relation with their counterparts. A CIMIC activity was conducted at the Paediatrics Department of Maputo Central Hospital, in order to support the development of their physical and cognitive skills. In Chimoio, they held a running activity o show local Mozambicans the importance of physical training.

 

EUTM Mozambique

EUTM Mozambique is one of the EU´s tools to address the crisis in Cabo Delgado. It will complement broader EU

peacebuilding efforts, conflict prevention and dialogue support, humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.

The mission counts on additional support under the European Peace Facility (EPF) aimed at providing non-lethal

equipment to the units trained by EUTM. On 21 April 2022. The assistance measure aims to strengthen EU support for capacity building and the deployment of the units of the Mozambican Armed Forces trained by the EU Training Mission in Mozambique (EUTM Mozambique). This support consists of the provision of integrated packages of equipment and supplies in conjunction with EU training missions. The aim is to

ensure that the training is as efficient and effective as possible, enabling EUTM-trained troops to be fully operational and

self-sufficient upon deployment. Through this assistance measure, the EU will finance equipment to benefit the eleven

Mozambican companies to be trained by the EUTM, including individual and collective equipment, ground mobility assets,

as well as a field hospital.
