A gesture that brings hope

EUTM RCA visits Sisters of Mother Theresa, Missionaries of Charity

There are people who find their purpose in helping others.

People who dedicate their lives to alleviating suffering where others dare not even look. And this is what we saw recently at the home run by the Sisters of Mother Teresa, Missionaries of Charity, in Bangui, who, together with the elderly and children they were caring for, hosted the Portuguese contingent of EUTM RCA.

The Portuguese colleagues offered water, food and sweets and, as importantly, spent some time discussing and easing their suffering with a kind word or even a joke.

Sometimes a small gesture can brighten a soul, show you that you are not forgotten, bring joy and above all the hope that there are and will be people who sometimes think of you

EUTM RCA

EUTM CAR started on 16 July 2016 at the request of the CAR Government, under the framework of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The mission’s mandate runs until 19 September 2025.

The main objective of the mission is to support the build-up of a modernised, effective, credible, ethnically balanced and democratically accountable FACA (Central African armed forces).

The mission contributes to the reform of the defence sector within a wider Security Sector Reform (SSR), in close coordination with the EU Delegation, the EU civilian advisory mission (EUAM CAR), as well as other international support missions, especially the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
