Now more than ever, the EU needs much greater investment in defence to ensure the security of all EU citizens. By boosting our readiness, the EU and Member States ensure we are prepared to deter threats and have the necessary resources to act decisively when required.

Military support to Ukraine: a priority for European security

Europe’s security starts in Ukraine. The EU is committed to supporting Ukraine's independence, freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

Investment in Ukraine’s defence and security is an investment in Europe’s security, therefore it is a top priority for the EU. 

To achieve this, the EU is providing military assistance in a number of ways:

  • Facilitating cooperation between Ukrainian and European defence companies
  • Funding Ukraine’s defence industry
