Political and Security Committee (PSC) Ambassadors Visit EUMAM UA, CAT-C
The visit aimed to assess the implementation of the tasks assigned to CAT-C and the effectiveness of training support provided to Ukraine by European Union member states. The ambassadors learned about the organization of the training process, the scope of courses offered, and the mechanisms for adapting training programs to changing combat conditions and lessons learned from the front.
A significant element of the program was the observation of practical training episodes, including operations in urban areas, infantry tactics, and battlefield medicine. The demonstration illustrated how training conducted within EUMAM Ukraine translates into the development of Ukrainian soldiers' operational capabilities and addresses the current needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
During the visit, it was emphasized that EUMAM Ukraine remains a key instrument of the European Union's Common Security and Defense Policy. Its goal is to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities through coordinated actions by member states, including military training, experience sharing, and the development of interoperability.
The delegation also highlighted Poland's role as the host nation of CAT-C and a key participant in the EUMAM Ukraine mission. Poland's training infrastructure and the involvement of instructors and military personnel play a significant role in implementing the joint European effort to support Ukraine and strengthen regional security.
The visit of the PSC ambassadors reaffirmed the importance of close cooperation between European Union member states in military support for Ukraine and the continuous improvement of the training process to ensure it meets the dynamically evolving requirements of the modern battlefield. It also served as part of the ongoing assessment of the implementation of EUMAM Ukraine and its contribution to building Ukraine's defense capabilities.
EUMAM UA
The EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders and to deter and respond to possible future military offensives by Russia and other potential aggressors. EUMAM works closely together with all other like-minded international partners to provide training support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. EUMAM is open to the participation of third states. All mission activities are located on EU soil. So far, 24 EU Member States have offered training modules and personnel. The training is supported by the provision of equipment for lethal and non-lethal purposes to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This equipment is provided by Member States and funded by the European Peace Facility.
