The European Union supports lifelong education in Turkmenistan

The EU funded project “Support to the Education sector in Turkmenistan” aims at further supporting the government of Turkmenistan in the creation of a modern education system in line with international educational standards and labour market needs. It is the third EU project in the education sector, financed by the European Union in Turkmenistan.
Further expanding its scope of activities, the EU funded project “Support to Education Sector in Turkmenistan” started with capacity creation on active learning and collaborative teaching methods and a blended learning approach in the selected pilot and higher education institutes.
On 21 November 2018, students and teachers from the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management demonstrated their knowledge obtained during a 60 hours course on Financial Management and Analysis, implemented by one of the project's senior experts. Working in groups, they analysed the balance sheet of a local construction company Altyn Yeldis. The participants highlighted in their presentations corporate strengths and weaknesses, discussed option for decision-making, evaluated the financial health of the company, and provided a strategic outlook. The exercise focused on team building, collaboration and communication, creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking and presentation skills. During the course, the project team made active use of the cloud-based Learning Management System “Moodle” (https://goo.gl/fMW15F), entering unchartered territory for faculty offering a quantum leap of new possibilities. Blended learning and capacity creation activities will continue, in line with best EU practice and the Turkmen national concept on digitalisation of education, issued in September 2017.
Students who successfully graduated from the course were awarded Certificates of Training.
