On the evening of the 9 th of May 2023, the Delegation of the European Union to the State of Qatar celebrated ‘Europe Day’ under the theme ‘United in Diversity’. The reception was held at the Doha Design District, in Msheireb Downtown an area that has been built based on the notions of innovation, sustainability, community building and cultural heritage.

The Gazi Baba Park in Skopje was the place to be on 13 May. Hundreds of people of all ages gathered for a picnic amid live music, a variety of sport and educational activities (including on endemic species in the Park), tasty food – and above all good vibes. In the green hidden gem not very far from the city centre, the EU Delegation to North Macedonia threw this party for the citizens on the occasion of Europe Day (or Europe Month). The shaky May weather was on our side this time and allowed for an afternoon full of fun and entertainment, which culminated with the performance of the legendary guitarist Vlatko Stefanovski and his band.

To celebrate Europe Day, on 9 May 2023 the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe organised the “European Discovery Game”, a dynamic, open-door learning event for young students. Pupils from local high schools gathered in the European quarter in Strasbourg to participate in a whole day of activities, visiting several diplomatic and institutional representations and engaging with European Ambassadors and officials. Challenge upon challenge, they learned more about the common values and history of the EU and the Council of Europe, and discovered the true essence of being European citizens.

On 9 May, the European Union (EU) Delegation organised a reception celebrating Europe Day, the day in 1950 when then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman called for the joint management of coal and steel, forming the embryo of today’s EU.

On 9 May, the European Union and its Member States celebrated Europe Day, marking peace and unity in Europe.

On 6 May, the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia held a big event dedicated to Europe Day at Expo Georgia. Over ten thousand people from Tbilisi joined.

Europe Day, May 9th, is an occasion to celebrate the unity in our diversity. Here in New York, the European Union promotes universal values in the United Nations. As the European Union continues to evolve to meet global challenges, sustainability and inclusion remain at the forefront of its priorities. Europe Day 2023 provides an opportunity to showcase several noteworthy projects from different EU Member States that exemplify these values. Highlighting initiatives that prioritize sustainability and inclusion can inspire and promote positive change within the European community and beyond.

On Monday, 8 May 2023, for the 15th year in a row, the Empire State Building tower will be lit in blue and yellow to mark Europe Day, celebrated on 9th May to commemorate the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. Europe Day is a moment to look back on the history of the EU and recognize the importance of its values, which include peace, solidarity and unity in diversity.

Music, flowers, the EU Fair, virtual reality by the Adriatic coast

After a bit of a break caused by the pandemic, Europe Day will once again be celebrated with a big, public event in Tbilisi. The Delegation of the European Union to Georgia invites everyone to join celebrations on 6 May at Expo Georgia (118 Akaki Tsereteli Avenue). People of all ages are invited to join us in celebration of the common values between Georgia and Europe and hear more about the European Union’s work in the country.

This year, the Delegation of the European Union in Strasbourg wishes to celebrate Europe Day through an interactive initiative that will allow you to (re)discover the history of the European integration and the cultural diversity of EU Member States.
